This represents an increasing trend compared with two previous studies in SQUH that reported the incidence of 34% and 25.4% in 1994 and 2003, respectively.[ 2 3 ] This could be attributed to the younger age of premature neonates delivered at our hospital, which is reflected by the inclusion of 24–25 weeks preterm babies (BW 500–750 g) that were not present in the previous studies.
