One study examined symptom presentation in a sample of high-functioning children referred for an ASD assessment ( Mandy et al., 2011 ) and reported that relatively more males were diagnosed with a full-ASD subtype and relatively more females were diagnosed with a partial-ASD subtype although the difference narrowly missed significance.
