When we analyzed the statistical significance of the TAIs using VTAI (variance of TAIs) as a test statistic, [ 47 ] we found that the bat, mouse, and pig forelimb trends are highly significant ( P -values = 1.11e-4, 1.36e-4, and 3.12e-4, respectively), whereas the opossum forelimb trend is not ( P -value = 0.256) (Additional file 6 : Figure S5).
