On the other hand, plasma volumes and whole blood volumes were greatly increased in patients with splenomegaly and t these increases were highly significant on t-testing compared with the normal values (P < 0.001 in both) and there was a highly significant correlation with the degree of splenic enlargement (r = +0.7847, and +0.8278 respectively, P< 0.001 for both) (Table 1, Figs 1 and 2).
