This resulted in an increasing trend in the percentage reduction of C. difficile incidence over time, reaching levels over 76% and comparable to those achieved with screening patients only at the time of hospital admission when the effectiveness of patient isolation is assumed to be 100% (Fig. 5a , black curve).
