The actual peak ultraviolet (UV) absorption spectrum of chloroquine is between 320 and 340 nm which is clinically not significant.[ 6 ] However, when chloroquine is irradiated, there is a spectral shift resulting in markedly increased absorption in the UVB range, which is clinically highly significant.
