One study reported an increasing trend of using US as the first imaging tool (about 69% instead of 32.6%) during the period from 2008 through 2013, whereas the use of CT was decreased. 18 In the current study, US examination was the initial imaging modality in 27% of the cases suspected to have appendicitis.
