Clearly, segmental needling in the neck had a much greater effect on thermal PT and expression of SP, CGRP and GABA in DRGs than distal needling; however, differences in thermal PT in the ST36-GB34 group came close to significance compared with the model group, suggesting an analgesic effect that may reflect central (supraspinal) mechanisms.
