The prospective Nurses’ Health Study (NHS and NHSII) and a meta-analysis of 7 observational studies reported an increased risk of breast cancer of borderline significance, with the latter showing a relative risk of 1.16 (95% CI: 1.04–1.29) for the highest vs lowest levels of serum prolactin ( 16 , 8 ).
