Strikingly, iNKT cell deficiency resulted in a highly significant shift in the macrophage phenotype in all tissues, from a mixed/M2 dominated population (high frequency of CD206 + /low frequency of iNOS + cells) in Apc Min/+ Jα 18+/ − mice, to a macrophage population strongly skewed towards the M1 phenotype in Apc Min/+ Jα 18 − / − mice (high frequency of iNOS + and strongly diminished proportion of CD206 + macrophages) ( Fig. 6C, D ).
