A trend toward significance for age and no effect of BCS on serum 25(OH)D was found in dogs, 14 whereas in humans, increasing age and obesity were associated with decreased serum 25(OH)D status. 38 , 39 , 40 Findings in our study may have been affected by the limited age and BCS characteristics of the study population, because the majority of dogs were older (75% of all dogs ≥6 years old) and 68% of dogs had a BCS of between 4 and 6.
