17 When re-analyzing the primary data from included studies as SMD or RR, we found five additional significant effects of toe clipping, namely: increased vocalization, reduced motor activity and toe swelling after clipping on PND7 in mice, impaired adult swimming ability in rats clipped on PND4 (all Figure 5 ), as well as a borderline significant decrease in post-weaning body weight for female pups clipped on PND7 ( Figure 4 ).
