The authors argued that the p K a values of the parent pyridines determine the reduction potential and they reported the p K a values as an increasing trend with electron‐donor character (4‐carboxypyridine, p K a =3.10; pyridine, p K a =5.17; 4‐methylpyridine, p K a =5.94; 4‐ tert ‐butylpyridine, p K a =5.99; 4‐methoxypyridine, p K a =6.62). 24 If the solution was saturated with CO 2 the complexes showed different increases in catalysis in their second reduction potential.
