However, when adjusting the analyses for parity, maternal age and time between childbirth and blood sampling in Cohort 5, the associations were slightly attenuated and the association between ΣPCB and child sex was of borderline significance; a doubling in ΣPCB was associated with an 8% increase of the sex ratio, while it was 7% for a doubling of p,p’ -DDE and 9% for a doubling of the methylmercury concentration ( Table 2 ).
