The numerical index of discrimination calculated for 12 isolates, using Simpson’s index of diversity was 0.997, which corroborate with earlier studies [ 15 , 21 ], where ERIC-PCR was shown to have highly significant discriminatory power in characterizing the genetic diversity of E. coli strains.
