One of the exciting findings in our study is the highly significant correlation between the degree of asymmetrical expression in sncga and that of behavioral lateralization. sncga belongs to a group of soluble proteins (synucleins) that act as neurotransmitters and are commonly expressed in neural tissues; however, sncga is typically expressed in peripheral neurons and the retina ( George 2002 ).
