However, it was reported that the SHBG levels in women show a decreasing trend during the first six decades followed by a steady increase at around age 60 years onward 21 , whereas in men they show an increasing trend with age 22 , 23 ; we stratified the ELISA results based on gender and age, and we only included subjects aged ≤60 years to reduce the variability in the data, especially in women.
