When the levels of PTX3 staining were quantitated (based on fluorescence intensity measurements), there was a slight trend towards increasing PTX3 levels in the AMD compared to non-AMD samples, however, this was not statistically significant for either the choroid (Fig. 5A ) or choriocapillaris (Figure S5A ).
