Both the ATP and the cAMP levels of rat oocytes showed a decreasing trend with time in both treatment groups, whereas only the ATP level in the AZT group was statistically significantly lower than that in the control group at weeks 9 and 12 (both P -values < 0.05), and the cAMP level at week 12 was significantly decreased in the AZT group ( P < 0.05) (Figure 6A and 6B ).
