However, in order to avoid inappropriate correlations, due to the rapid sequence evolution of SINEs, we have chosen a conservative approach and only considered comparisons between sequences falling within bootstrap-supported clades in the phylogenetic analysis. Nin and V HCD datasets clearly exhibited a linear, positive relationship with the host species split age; on the other hand, the divergence of CORE sequences showed a slight trend for a negative correlation with host species split age, although the correlation is not significant.
