Featuring the combinational effect of a mild HFD and ageing, our results in insulin-responsive and insulin-producing tissues from old HFD mice indicate an overall trend that TLR4-deficiency reduces mRNA expression of inflammatory cytokines and M1 macrophage markers, and additionally promotes alternative macrophage activation specifically in the liver.
