Indeed, overexpression of GFP-Smash PM in the tracheae caused a statistically highly significant reduction in lumen diameter by ∼33%, measured at tracheal fusion points ( Fig. 10, B, E, and G ), compared with tracheal epithelial cells overexpressing α-catenin-GFP as control ( Fig. 10, A, D, and G ).
