The missing information is vital to develop a sustainable intervention program, especially when an increasing trend of single-parent homes 37 , 38 is observed and a high proportion of single mothers are supported by maternal grandmother and other female family members; 39 the dynamics of family composition and interactions among biological parents and co-parents can play an essential role in modifying adolescents’ sexual behaviors and risk of contracting HIV.
