However, somewhat surprisingly, even precursor polymer solutions with sharply different viscosities still form relatively homogeneous hydrogels using the static mixer attachments described in the parts list ( e.g., PNIPAM with a high molecular weight carbohydrate 26 ), suggesting that concerns about inefficient mixing as a result of mis-matched viscosities may not be significant at least on the bulk scale.
