Additionally, our results showed that the PDT was marginally significant in CPD group compared to the non-CPD group; thus, it can be considered that a voluntary trigger using a purely reflex mechanism of the bulbar swallowing center may work before the initiation of severe degeneration of the corticobulbar-pyramidal motor tract [ 24 ].
