For an alluvial groundwater aquifer system, we compared EM SYBR Gold staining (instead of Acridin orange) with FCM SYBR Green and found FCM values being on average 26% lower than the values obtained by EM, with a highly significant correlation between both methods ( r = 0.91, n = 138, p < 0.001; unpublished data).
