For functional classification, we focused particularly on genes with significantly differentially methylated CpGs in promoter regions: gene ontology (GO) analysis revealed highly significant enrichment of DNAm changes in hematopoietic categories (Fig. 2 b), indicating that DNAm changes upon engraftment in HuMice are particularly associated with hematopoiesis and immune response.
