When comparing to the abundance of DEGs between two different anther development stages, the number of downregulated genes was significantly increased during anther maturation, and on the contrary, the number of upregulated genes had a decreasing trend ( Figure 4 ), implying that the genes’ expression and the activity of anther in the initial development stage are more vigorous than the later stages.
