However, highly significant alterations of other Ca 2+ signaling-related genes were found ( Fig. 6A ), including almost complete down-regulation of ATP2A1 (SR Ca 2+ -ATPase 1, SERCA1), the SERCA isoform specific for fast fibres ( 21 ), most likely reflecting type 1 (slow) fibre predominance ( 11 ).
