Studies performed on keratinocytes isolated from B6 mice (endogenous Foxn1 expression) and from nude mice transfected with Foxn1 adenovirus (exogenous Foxn1 expression) cultured under hypoxic (1% O 2 ) or normoxic (21% O 2 ) conditions showed highly significant increases in Foxn1 expression in both types of cells exclusively under a hypoxic environment.
