borderline significantp =0.0600
While the naive correlation coefficient between the accidental poisoning and suicide trends over 1979–2011 was 0.72 suggesting a moderate-to-strong correlation, fitting a time series transfer function between the drug overdose and suicide series to assess their co-incidence yields a numerator regression coefficient (‘moving average’ term) significant at p =0.0311, and the denominator regression coefficient (‘autoregressive’ term) was borderline significant at p =0.0600.
