It may be significant that one of the Ca 2+ sites detected by crystallography involves the key site A ligand, Asp248 (corresponding to Asp249 in human albumin) and indeed, Ca 2+ ions were found to interfere with the 113 Cd signals for both sites A and B of human albumin [46] .
