Results General characteristics There were no significant differences in gender, educational level, smoking status, drinking status, family history, hyperlipidemia, and hyperhomocysteinemia between the 2 groups ( p >0.05), but there was a highly significant difference in age between the 2 groups, and significant differences were noted for hypertension and diabetes mellitus ( p <0.05) ( Table 1 ).
