In severe acute colitis, FC evaluation could be helpful in timely prediction of clinical course: Ho et colleagues[ 85 ] demonstrated that FC was higher in patients requiring colectomy with a trend toward significance when compared to responders, suggesting that FC in patients with severe acute colitis could be included among the prognostic criteria.
