Hence, despite laboratory studies demonstrating that aerosol acidity can enhance isoprene SOA formation (Surratt et al., 2007, 2010; Lin et al., 2012 ), the effect may not be significant in the southeastern US during the summer months due to the constant acidity of aerosols.
