A better understanding of HSV-1-mediated oncomodulation in this 3D in vitro model could provide highly significant new information about the possible dangers of HSV oncolytic therapy in vivo and about fundamental mechanisms of viral oncomodulation during oncolytic virotherapy, natural HSV-1 infections, and HSV-1 vaccinations.
