A positive trend of overall survival in patients with malignant ascites associated with epithelial cancers was also noted in a prospective randomized trial (Heiss et al. 2010 ; Frampton 2012 ) and there was demonstrable activity in platinum refractory epithelial ovarian cancer (Baumann et al. 2011 ).
