Change in body mass index for each copy of the FTO minor allele was significant in participants aged 50 or more years (β −0.23 (95% confidence interval −0.44 to −0.22); I 2 0 (95% confidence interval 0 to 75); P=0.03), but not in participants aged less than 50 years (β −0.04 (−0.26 to 0.18); I 2 0 (0 to 75); P=0.75); however, the corresponding moderation test failed to attain significance (P=0.21).
