Parental interactions, both with pups and between mothers and fathers, are highly significant for both mice and humans ( Glasper et al., 2018 ; Kentner et al., 2010 ; Liu et al., 2013 ), and there is an increasing awareness of the importance of paternal interactions within the family or litter environment in both species.
