Some earlier work from this laboratory 9 – 11 suggested, however, that the proportion of triple ionization by double Auger decay may be significant in some cases, and our previous investigation 3 confirmed that it can reach 10% even in relatively simple carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen compounds.
