With respect to in-hospital deaths, an increased BMI was associated with a decreasing trend of the OR. 27 In elderly patients undergoing hip fracture surgery, obese patients were at an increased risk of AKI, but overweight and obesity were not observed to be associated with an increased risk of mortality compared to normal-weight patients. 30 Notably, the relationships of BMI with AKI or mortality were similar to the present findings.
