For mortality, the AUC for JFI with demographic covariates was 0.76 [95% c.i.: 0.74, 0.78], with good calibration (H-L χ 2 , p = 0.350) and pseudo-R 2 (0.126); older subjects were at risk, male sex almost doubled the mortality risk, and the odds ratio for JFI was highly significant at 1.18--an 18% increase in mortality risk per JFI unit.
