Accounting for the CD4+ T-cell count association, no statistically significant difference could be found between non-diseased HIV patients with Leishmania antibodies and those without Leishmania antibodies in our CD4-matched case-control study, with a small trend toward higher levels in Leishmania antibody positive HIV patients (Figures 1 , 2 ).
