These conflicting results can be explained in the elegant work of Wu and colleagues: using early- and late-passage mesenchymal stem cells, they found IR exposure resulted in a decreasing trend in arresting both early- and late-passage MSCs in the G0/G1 phase up to 72 h post IR, and a substantial accumulation of early-passage MSCs in the G2/M phase.
