We found a marginally nonsignificant positive relationship between BCI and corticosterone metabolite concentrations in females during incubation ( Fig 6A , F 1, 40 = 3.75, P = 0.059), but not in females ( Fig 6B , F 1,47 = 0.78, P = 0.38) nor males ( Fig 6C , F 1,56 = 0.53, P = 0.46) during nestling feeding (see S4 Table for model details).
