In the last 50 years, there has been a decreasing trend in the incidence of these aggravations in high-income countries, alongside an opposite movement in middle- and low-income countries, which is basically due to access to quality prenatal care as well as adequate management of cases of preeclampsia and eclampsia, with better maternal and perinatal outcomes [ 7 , 15 ].
