Recent studies also indicated a decreasing trend in prevalence of smoking in Nepal. 43 , 44 However, as we concluded in our recent meta-analysis, downward shift in the age of initiation of smoking and high prevalence of tobacco use among adolescents are the major challenges in tobacco free initiatives in Nepal. 45 Approximately one third of the participants (29.4%) had consumed alcohol in the last 30 days.
