Recent advancements can help improving analysis of cellular heterogeneity in future case/control studies: induced neurons (iN) [ 143 , 144 , 145 , 146 ], generated by lentivirus-mediated overexpression of selected neuronal transcription factors, offer the benefit of less heterogeneous cell populations that may allow to detect more subtle albeit highly significant effects (e.g., [ 81 ]).
