We found a highly significant correlation between manual counts and image analysis performed on the CD138 immunostained sections like Smith et al .[ 9 ] In their study, the manual PC counts on CD138 immunostained sections had shown the highest correlation with the count obtained on image analysis while marrow aspirate PC count and visual estimation of CD138 immunostained sections were less correlated with the image analysis count.
