Previously we have demonstrated that both the height of an urban building and the floor height that the child lives on can directly influence indoor concentrations of street-level pollutants; low-rise buildings and apartments on floors 0–2 have higher concentrations than homes on higher floors.( 30 ) Although we had limited power for subgroup analysis, we observed a slight trend towards a greater association between NO 2 and urgent asthma among children in HAPN that lived on lower floor apartment units.
